Two Upcoming Events

The joy Women's Ministry Leadership Team has been hard at work on our two Fall events.  The first is back by popular demand - Mugs and Muffins and the second is a Sweet Swap in November.
Information can be found below:

Mugs & Muffins
Christmas is just around the corner. That means we will all be busy decorating our homes, shopping for that perfect gift or sitting back and remembering the true reason why we celebrate the season, the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  To celebrate the Christmas season Joy Women’s Ministry is hosting another Mugs & Muffins event. Join us Saturday, October 18th, from 9:45 am – 12:00 pm.

We have arranged six classes for women of all ages to come enjoy while socializing with other ladies over coffee and muffins.  To prepare us all for the Christmas season all classes will be focused on a Christmas craft or helpful tip. Decorate your home by learning how to make a Christmas wreaths and ornaments. Learn how to make the perfect Christmas bow for your little girl, plus much more! We look forward to seeing you all there.

And.......

Sweet Swap

Ladies, we all need a little inspiration when it comes to that special Thanksgiving or Christmas dessert idea, so your Joy Women’s Ministry is hosting a sweet swap on November 13th from 6:00 to 7:30. Please join us in the fellowship hall for a time of fellowship and tasting sweet treats. (Take home boxes will be supplied) Please let us know what you will be bringing and the recipe, so we can have a recipe booklet for everyone who comes. Pleas drop your recipes off in the cupcake box on the ministry information desk in the foyer or email it to Kira Bridges at kirabridges@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing everyone there and please bring a friend!

Hope to see you at both of these events.

Fall Discipleship Classes

Sunday Night study – leaders are Cynthia McGrew, Jana Dutton and Susan Ashmore:
Woman toWoman- Preparing Yourself to Mentor

We know how important mentoring is. Yet while the Bible instructs us to “teach the younger women,”
how many of us feel equipped for the task? Woman to Woman: Preparing yourself to Mentor shows
you the way into a mentoring relationship. Whether you are surprised to find yourself in the role of
mentor, this study will lead you through the process step by step. With guidance on everything from
understanding your gifts to preparing yourself spiritually to learning vulnerability, building trust through
accountability and confidentiality, setting boundaries, and more. This biblical based study will equip
you for a life changing role and teach each of us to be a better friend or merea.

Wed. night study – Kristal Speers and Kira Bridges, leaders
Ever After by Vicki Courtney:

This study will help you find your true identity as a child of God, rather than in your role as a wife or
mother or rising executive or even church leader. Vicki takes women on a behind-the–scenes, often
humorous, look at fairy-tale let down, quitting the family busyness, marriage matters, parenting, and
being part of the better happily-ever-after story God has had in mind all along.

Wed. night study – Brenda Hubbard leader
You’ll get through this – Max Lacado

You’ll get through this Whatever “this” is,-financial woes, relationship valleys, health crises. You fear you won’t make it through. You fear that the depression will never lift, the yelling will never stop, the pain will never leave. Will this gray sky ever brighten? This load ever lighten?

Yes! Deliverance is to the Bible what jazz music is to Mardi Gras: bold, brassy, and everywhere. Consider the Old Testament story of Joseph—tossed in a pit by his brothers, sold into slavery, wrongfully imprisoned. But God wove what was meant for evil into good.  God is in the business of redeeming the broken. He was then. He is still. Do you crave some hope for these tough times? Then this is the message you need.

Tuesday morning
Precept – Kati Reeves, leader

SPRING RETREAT, APRIL 25, 26 AND 27

Does simply thinking about chocolate bring a smile to your face? Try thinking about this .... hanging out with friends while enjoying your favorite hot beverage, nibbling on a brownie or a but of chocolate pie, laughing, talking, and relaxing together... it's a perfect gathering.

Please join us on April 25 thru April 27 for our Spring Retreat at Timber Lodge Ranch. We will focus on God's Extravagant Grace through a study of the miracles that Jesus performed. Information packets are available at the Ministry Information Center in the Foyer.

TRIP TO SPRINGFIELD, MO

”234x60Banner”

“Fresh Grounded Faith”

2013 Fall Conference
Several ladies have expressed the desire for our group to attend a conference this fall in lieu of a retreat. We are very pleased to announce that arrangements have been made for the Joy Women’s Ministry to attend the Jennifer Rothschild “Fresh Grounded Faith” conference in Springfield, Missouri on November 8th and 9th.

We have chartered a bus for this event and the drive to Springfield and back will be a time of sweet fellowship for our ladies. Our plans are to leave from the church at 9 a.m. on Friday, November 8th and return the evening of Saturday, November 9th.

The cost of the conference will depend on how many people you have staying in your room and the cost is as follows:

PLAN ‘A’ – four (4) people sharing a room (two queen sized beds) - $95 each.
PLAN ‘B’ – three (3) people to a room (two queen sized beds) - $105 each.
PLAN ‘C’ – two (2) people to a room (two queen sized beds) - $120 each.

You will also need to bring money for lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday. Breakfast is included at the hotel. We will be staying at the Comfort Inn in Springfield. After the conference on Saturday we will be stopping in Branson at The Landing. Lunch will be on your own and there will be time to do some shopping before we head back to Hot Springs.

Reservations begin on August 11, 2013. A non-refundable $50 deposit is required before your registration is valid. While the deposit is non-refundable it is fully transferable to another person. Deadline for reservations is October 6, 2013. The balance on registrations is also due on October 6th. Registration packets can be picked up at the Ministry desk in the foyer and they can be taken to Jennifer in the church office or given to one of the Leadership Team members (Kira Bridges, Lori Gray, Danah Allen, Becky Lee, Betty Lacy, Susan Ashmore, Brenda Gibson and Amylyn Karm). Please make your checks payable to “HSBC”. THE FIRST TEN LADIES WHO REGISTER WILL RECEIVE A FREE GIFT.

You find more information about Jennifer Rothschild and the other speakers for the conference on the attached sheet.

We are looking forward to spending the week-end with you and enjoying Christian fellowship, up-lifting and encouraging speakers, great food and lots of chocolate. If you have any questions, please call Betty Lacy 282-3131.

Your Joy Women’s Ministry Leadership Team
